Powering the clean energy transition
We're building software that helps renewable energy installers scale their operations and accelerate the shift to a sustainable future.
Our Vision
To inspire and enable a world powered by renewable energy, where businesses play a pivotal role in achieving a sustainable, net-zero future.
Our Mission
To build intuitive software that empowers businesses to scale renewable energy operations and drive the shift to a sustainable future.
The Payaca Playbook
How we operate, what we value, and what we expect from each other.
Why we exist
The transition to sustainable energy is being held back by operational complexity. We exist to fix that. We build the platform that enables clean tech businesses to scale installations, streamlining their entire workflow so they can focus on the critical work of building a clean energy future.
Operating Principles
Take Action
If you see a problem, address it. Don't wait for permission or consensus. Make the best decision you can with the information you have, then move forward. Ask for opinions but not permission.
Be Transparent
We share information openly: product roadmap, key metrics, customer feedback, and our mistakes. We document our decisions so future team members understand why we built things the way we did.
Design for Simplicity
Our customers don't have time for complexity. Neither do we. Before we add a feature, a setting, or a workflow step, we ask: what's the simplest version that solves the real problem?
Challenge Ideas, Support People
Strong disagreement on product direction or technical approach is expected and healthy. Arguments should win on merit. But supporting people completely means active help, not passive encouragement.
How we work together
Decisions
Most decisions should be made by the person closest to the problem. If you're accountable for shipping a feature, you have authority over the technical approach. Escalate only when you need input you don't have or when the decision has significant cross-team impact.
When things break
Everyone is responsible for fixing critical issues proportional to their expertise and role. If a customer's quote generation is broken before a big install, the person who can fix it fastest owns it, regardless of whether it's "their code" or "their job."
Failure and learning
Failure is fine if you learn from it and share what you learned. Shipped a feature that customers didn't use? That's valuable data. What's not fine is repeating the same mistake or hiding problems until they become customer-visible disasters.
What we look for
We hire and promote based on:
- 1Results โ Do you ship features that customers use? Do you solve real problems?
- 2Customer empathy โ Do you understand the operational challenges of a scaling installation business?
- 3Judgement โ Do you make good decisions with incomplete information?
- 4Collaboration โ Do you make others more effective?
We don't optimise for credentials, years of experience, or likability. We don't tolerate high performers who damage the team.
The bottom line
We're building the platform that helps clean tech companies scale and accelerate the clean energy transition. That requires a team that ships high-quality work, operates with integrity, and is obsessed with helping our customers grow.
