About Payaca

Payaca is the operating system for clean-energy installers, the businesses putting solar, heat pumps, battery storage and EV chargers on homes and businesses across the UK and US. We bring quoting, scheduling, job management, invoicing and compliance into one place built for how these companies actually work.

These are growing businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and generic trade software. We give them tools designed for their world, so they can win more work, run more efficiently, and scale.

Clean energy is being installed faster than ever, and the installers doing that work are at the centre of it. The better they run, the faster it happens.

About the role

You'll own the deal end-to-end: build your own pipeline, qualify, run discovery and demos, send proposals, and close. Roughly half your pipeline arrives as inbound; the other half you generate yourself through outbound, and that outbound is where the real money is. You'll sell to UK clean-energy install businesses (10 to 50 staff) who've outgrown spreadsheets or bounced off generic field service and CRM software that was never built for their world. You win by understanding how they actually work and showing them their business running on a platform built for exactly that, not by feature-touring. When a deal lands, you hand a well-briefed customer to our Customer Success team.

This is a hungry role. The base is deliberately modest and the upside is deliberately big, because we want people who back themselves to go and earn it. Come in, hit the numbers, and there's a clear route: smash this and you'll build and lead the sales team as we grow. If you're after a comfortable salary and a quiet life, this honestly isn't it, and that's okay.

What you'll do

  • Build your own outbound pipeline every week and treat it as a numbers game: get enough quality conversations at the top and the closes follow
  • Qualify hard and honestly using our PACT framework (pain, authority, context, timing)
  • Run discovery-led demos tailored to the prospect's real pain and incumbent, never a feature tour
  • Build and send proposals, and own a disciplined follow-up cadence through to a yes, a no, or a clear blocker
  • Hit your new-business target and keep your pipeline and notes clean in Payaca
  • Feed product gaps and competitive intel back to the team

Requirements

  • You'll pick up the phone and do cold outreach every day, and rejection doesn't put you off. This matters to us more than anything else on this list
  • You think about sales as a funnel and a numbers game, not as winning every argument
  • You're hungry and competitive, and you want a vehicle to earn real money and learn how a business gets built
  • You can sell yourself, which is the best evidence you can sell our product
  • You actively use AI tools in your day-to-day and want to push them further; it's central to how we operate
  • UK-based and eligible to work in the UK

Nice to have

  • A couple of years in a commercial, sales, SDR, founder's-associate or startup-generalist role
  • You've sold something that wasn't easy, or faced real rejection and kept going
  • Clean energy, trades, or field-service domain; familiarity with MCS/DNO
  • Outbound experience; comfortable with tools like Aircall and Fireflies

Interview process

    Screening call (20 minutes)

    A few structured questions on how you handle rejection and how you'd build a pipeline from scratch, plus a chance to ask us anything.

    Mock discovery & demo (roleplay + discussion)

    We'll give you a prospect scenario; you run discovery and a short demo, then we debrief together.

    Final interview with the CEO
